Monika Sułkowska : Interlingual Equivalence of Phrases Based on Somatic Expressions in Polish, French and Italian
The article presents different aspects of equivalence and definitions of phrasal units. In this work, the author analyses interlingual equivalence of the concrete linguistic material (a series of sequences including names of human body parts in French, Italian and Polish). She discusses classification of potential equivalents in homologue categories, partial correspondents and idiomats.

Katarzyna Klauzinska : Direct and Deceitful Auto-presentation
The article presents research in the area of pragmalinguistics and rhetoric. It focuses on the category of auto-presentation and uses the materials from the meetings of the Investigating Committee available on the Internet (www.sejm.gov.pl), aiming at examination of corruption. The author analyses the inquiry of Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the general manager of the National Radio and Television Council until 2004. He created the most controversial acts that encouraged Lew Rywin%s corruptive offer. The author of the article focuses on his auto-presentation. She studies the linguistic means he uses to manipulate the listeners. His strategies like providing information about himself directly, referring to popular individuals, high estimation of the group, he originates from, underestimating his mistakes and deceitful underestimating himself aims to achieve friendly attitude of TV viewers rather than the Committee itself.

Małgorzata Witaszek-Samborska : Some New Meanings of Culinary Vocabulary in Contemporary Polish
The article deals with problems connected with neosemantisms in contemporary Polish. The author analyses and describes some new meanings of the culinary vocabulary, which we can find in women&s periodicals. The reason for this process is both native changes in meaning (for example: posypka, przegryzka, tatar) and semantic borrowings from English (for example: chips, drink, koktajl). Some of them are necessary in modern texts, but there are also some unnecessary changes among them and simply lexical mistakes.

Agnieszka Piela : Verbs with Roots Referring to the Names of Dishes
The article offers an analysis of verbs which come from the names of dishes, spices and herbs, e.g. pieprzyć, chrzanić, dosolić, kiełbasić, schlebiać, słodzić, cukrować, pierniczyć, spaprykować, podchmielić, odmiętować. The derivates are neither new nor unusual. Traces of their presence are quite visible in Old Polish. However, in comparison to modern usage, previous forms used to have different meanings and functioned in different contexts. Therefore the main purpose of the presentation is to trace back the process of their evolution. In the article, their forms have been divided into three semantic categories according to their roots. The first group consists of derivates referring to the hot and bitter herb called chmiel (hop). The second category is composed of nouns indicating sweet taste. The third one comprises verbs referring to various culinary delicacies, e.g. chleb, migdał (bread, almond). All the examples of their usage have been given in accordance with this classification.

Jacek Perlin : A Few Remarks on the Spelling and Inflection of Polish Surnames
The author stresses the necessity to systematize the rules concerning inflection of Polish surnames and their spelling. A global solution of the problems is not possible, according to the author, due to the long tradition referring to some types of surnames, regardless of the changing rules.

The author of the article, who has been studying vulgarisms spreading in Polish and their various evaluations in social practice for years, analyzes examples of new %fashionable vulgar words and phrases, as well as their evaluation in various social circle and in different types of speech.
