Jadwiga Linde-Usiekniewicz : An Attempt of Classification of Selected Social-Political Terms
The article is an attempt of categorization of selected Polish and French social-political terms. An introductory categorization for Polish is based on semantic qualities considered by the author to be dominant in the meaning of a given term. Then she compared the outcome with hyperonyms in dictionary definitions. The same strategy of comparison was applied to French superior terms' relation to those presented in Thesaurus versus hyperonyms in definitions. The method allowed to notice that formally equivalent terms in both the languages are not precisely equivalent semantically.

Karolina Bielenin-Lenczowska : The Ritual of Healing Charms as a Speech Act
The article analyses the ritual of healing charms occurring in Polish (and for comparison - Macedonian) folk culture as J.L. Austin's speech act. The work is divided into two parts. The former one examines the requisite conditions of the act, whereas the letter presents the participants of the act: the sender (charmer), the recipients (the illness or sacrum), the agent of action, or sacrum, and the object, i.e. the sick person. The ritual is an act of communication between the participants. Its analysis allows the author to understand the phenomenon and indicates causative power of word in magic practices.
