Krystyna Waszakowa : Ways to the dictionary of contemporary Polish neologisms
The subject of the paper is neologisms of the contemporary Polish language discussed as the object of lexicography. Upon stating that the abundant Polish literature devoted to neologisms lacks a monolingual lexicon thereof, the author critically discusses registers of the new vocabulary in the modern Polish published in the volumes titled Nowe słownictwo polskie. In her further reflections the author proves the value of the Polish chronologisation lexicography and the dynamically developing photolexicography as instruments which facilitate neologism re-dating. The author emphasises that the application of these methods for material data verification may contribute to authenticating both the material base of the future dictionary and lexical and derivational models of Polish from the second half of the 20th c.

Zuzanna Piłasewicz : Names of people being in non-platonic heterosexual informal relationships
The paper presents the lexical field of the names of people being in a non-
-platonic heterosexual informal relationship. It is a perfect example illustrating the influence of changes occurring in the extralinguistic reality on lexis. Although elements of structural semantics methodology have been employed to describe the field, component analysis has not been implemented due to the restricted volume of the paper.
The author concentrated solely on demonstrating the similarities and differences between the functioning of the discussed words in general dictionaries of Polish and in Korpus Języka Polskiego PWN [PWN Corpus of Polish]. These differences are particularly visible in the case of lexemes from the field peripheries, whose specific secondary meanings are not recorded in the quoted dictionaries despite having established usage.

Magdalena Bartłomiejczyk : On female drivers: Endeavours to fill in a lexical gap
In Polish, all nouns have grammatical gender, which, however, sometimes fails to coincide with the sex of the person to whom the noun refers. This is often the case with names of professions, many of which lack feminine forms. Kierowca [driver] is a good example. A competition was organised to invite speakers of Polish to suggest appropriate names for female bus drivers. The analysed material comprises 192 proposals sent to this competition. They reflect the word-building trends of present-day Polish although, as could be expected, not all of them are formed in accordance with the applicable norms. Several proposals, including the winner, kierowczyni, seem good candidates for general acceptance. Finally, some arguments for and against introducing feminine names for traditionally „male” professions and functions are discussed on the basis of the existing relevant literature.

Marta Chojnacka : Comparative research on the linguistic conceptualisation of
The paper brings the monograph Концепт боль в типологическом освещении [trans. The notion of ‘pain’ in the typological approach] concerning the Russian-Ukrainian comparative studies on linguistic conceptualisation of pain closer to the Polish recipient. The paper presents the primary methodological assumptions of the project, the research steps taken by the authors, the results of the analyses conducted on the material extracted from over ten languages, as well as the perspectives of further interdisciplinary research. Particular attention is given to the chapter on the primary and secondary pain-related verbs in the Polish language. The book is situated against the background of the publications to date which touch upon the issue of the linguistic image of pain. The reference to earlier works has enabled the author to present the innovation and value of the discussed publication. The monograph is a valuable complement of the relevant literature with respect to semantic comparative studies, above all due to the employed research method, which combines the systemic approach of individuals with a cognitive description.

Marcin Zabawa : Surowy, lokalizacja, biblioteka et cetera: on the newest neosemantisms in Polish
The aim of the paper is to present the newest neosemantisms in Polish: both those originating from English and those created on the basis of Polish. Although the bibliography of publications on neosemantisms in Polish is relatively rich, new structures of this type have been still occurring, which enforces the necessity to conduct continuous research with this respect. The present paper concentrates on describing the following neosemantisms functioning in present-day Polish: promocja, sesja, lokalizacja, surowy and biblioteka. The present and former meanings of the mentioned words are compared in the paper by referring them to the meanings of the corresponding English words. The new meanings of Polish words (and their occurrence in grammatical or phraseological structures) are illustrated with examples from the press and texts published on the Internet.

Sylwia Tyszka : Borrowings from German in the Polish terminology related to architecture and construction
The paper presents the results of the research on terms borrowed from German and employed in the Polish specialist language of architecture. The main emphasis was put on the history of penetration of new terms to the examined specialist language as well as on the ways of their adaptation. For this purpose, dictionaries of borrowings, etymological dictionaries, specialist terminological dictionaries as well as publications on Polish German linguistic relations were analysed. The analysis shows that German borrowings constitute a considerable group among terms of the specialist language of architecture, with the pre-partition period being most abundant in new borrowings.

Ewa Stala : History of the Polish-Spanish lexicography
The aim of the paper is presenting the outline of Polish-Spanish lexicography in a chronological order: beginning with the first multilingual dictionaries with Polish and Spanish parts (Calepin 1570, Megiser 1603, Hexaglosson 1646), continuing with a mini-dictionary included in Krótka gramatyka języka hiszpańskiego of 1922, and ending with modern bilingual dictionaries edited according to the rules of the contemporary lexicography. The paper contains elements of the description of the macro- and micro-structure of the dictionary acc. to the following criteria: entry, pronunciation, grammatical category, etymology, definition, examples of usage, idiomatic expressions, functional meanings, and material sources, where possible. The whole is presented against the background of bilingual Spanish lexicography and is supplemented with a list of discussed dictionaries.
