Magdalena Danielewiczowa : Dziewczyna o perłowych włosach, dziewczyna z perłowymi włosami (a girl with pearly hair): prepositional attributive phrases. Syntax, order, meaning
This paper concerns Polish prepositional attributive phrases representing o NP and z NP structures, e.g. dziewczyna o perłowych włosach and dziewczyna z perłowymi włosami (a girl with pearly hair), respectively. The author’s claim isthat these structures, although very similar, are not semantically identical. The former refers to an inherent property of a given object, while the latter shows an accidental feature. A number of linguistic arguments are presented in favour of this claim. An attempt is made also to define the meanings of the discussedstructures. At the end of the paper, the author discusses some problems ofordering the expressions in question and points to the necessity of further research on this subject matter.

Jadwiga Linde-Usiekniewicz : Double-headed relative clauses in Polish. A preliminary examination.
This paper discusses the so-called double-headed
relative clauses in Polish, introduced by a special relator
który to, which in sentences bearing such clauses obligatorily
agrees with the internal head. Such clauses have been
hitherto overlooked in most syntactic descriptions of Polish.
The inquiry is based on 291 citations obtained from the
National Corpus of Polish, analysed for their semantic and
syntactic features. The results show that double-headed
relative clauses in Polish are marked as explicitly nonrestrictive
(as opposed to standard relative clauses). While
identical internal and external heads need to be separated by
a phrase governed by the external head, there is no such
constraint on nonidentical internal heads. These may have
not only nominal, but also clausal antecedents. In addition,
non-identity of internal and external heads allows an
introduction of subjective valuation (in the internal head) and
a switch from object language to metalanguage or vice versa
between the governing clause and the relative clause.

Joanna Zaucha : Juxtaposition or syntax? Clausal phrases in the context of selected falsehood verbs.
This paper is dedicated to the issue of determining the
syntactic status of constituents of an utterance. The author,
on the example of utterances using falsehood verbs, seeks
syntagmatic properties permitting identification of the
syntactic status of a subordinate clausal phrase. Thus, she
takes a positive stance towards doubts regarding the
discreteness and objectivity of the argument–modifier
distinction. Based on the criterion of connectivity and/or
character of a clausal phrase, the author distinguishes four
sub-classes of verbs determining falsehood of ascription.

Mariola Wołk : Inny, różny, odrębny, odmienny (other, different, distinct, dissimilar). An attempt at identifying linguistic units.
The aim of this paper is to identify linguistic units which
represent the notions of inność, różność, odrębność and
odmienność (otherness, difference, distinctiveness and
dissimilarity). The outcome of the examination provides data
which are indispensable in further systematic analysis of
their meanings. Determining the number of linguistic units
corresponding to a given term as well as describing their
forms give insight into the syntactic properties of the
identified units (which can become premises for strictly
semantic conclusions). Detailed descriptions of the lexical
exponents of all four terms are based on authentic textual
instances of their usage (taken from the National Corpus of
Polish). Observations which originated from the undertaken
analysis are confronted with the findings presented in
dictionaries of contemporary Polish. The solutions proposed
in this paper, although they refer to semantics, virtually fail
to go beyond the issues related to the problem of identifying
linguistic units.

Karolina Sindrewicz : Sentence structures with verbs of movement in the speech of two- and three-year-old children.
The aim of this paper is to point to the issue of
acquisition of the syntactic and inflectional subsystems in
speech development, and in particular to development of
simple sentence structures. Based on the language material
covering fragments of utterances made by 50 children,
collected during a screening conducted in 3 nurseries in
Praga-Północ in 2015, I made a brief analysis of the
utterances constituted by verbs of movement, a class
characterised by high frequency and free use by the children.
The findings confirm the thesis that verbs of movement are
a group with which children aged 2-3 are well familiar.
